Activity planning order model#

The activity planning order model determines the temporal flexibility and planning horizon (e.g., spontaneous or pre-planned) of activities. The activity planning order models include attribute flexibility model, activity plan horizon model and attribute plan horizon model. Attribute flexibility model is estimated using a multivariate ordered probit formulation based on activity type and personal characteristics. Activity plan horizon model is estimated as an univariate ordered probit model based on attribute flexibility, activity type and personal characteristics. Finally, attribute planning horizon model is esimated using a multivariate ordered probit formulation based on flexibilities, activity plan horizon, activity type, and personal characteristics. The models are estimated using data from a GPS-based prompted recall activity-travel survey, UTRACS survey, that collected detailed information of activity planning and scheduling of the households in Chicago region. Currently, activity planning order models are hardcoded within the POLARIS simulation workflow.
